🗓 A 비견 year
standing tall, and people who stand with you
What a 비견 year is
This year’s energy looks like you — the Friend. Your sense of self wakes up and “I want to do it my way” gets louder. Good for going independent and for new beginnings, and people cut from the same cloth gather round.
A Friend year also brings more things that have to be divided. Shares of a result, club dues, working out who gets what with siblings and colleagues — it comes up often, so drawing the line at the start is what protects the relationship. Hold the reins without running alone: that is this year’s skill.
📊 By area
💰 Money
Income and outgoings both grow. Money leaks most easily into other people’s good causes, so set rules for what you lend and what you split. Keep “my share” clearly drawn and the money holds.
💼 Work
More competitors, but that also means a stage where your ability shows. Rather than carrying it all yourself, make allies and the results double.
💘 Love
You assert yourself more, and small contests of will can start. Choose “going together” over “winning” and the relationship deepens by a hand’s width.
🌿 Health
The energy is high, so overwork and an overloaded schedule are what get you. Exercise is good; spend only half your competitive streak on it.
🔥 What runs well this year
- Anything carrying your own name — going independent, founding something, a one-person brand
- Clubs and communities — banding together with people cut the same way
- Exercise and building physical strength (a competitive streak makes excellent fuel)
- Finally doing that thing your own way, the one you’ve postponed for years
⚠️ What to watch
- Partnership promises where the shares and the money are left vague
- Face-saving spending, and competing to pick up the bill
- Advice from people around you, missed because you dug your heels in
- Overload from taking on other people’s work as well as your own
🍀 The kind reading / ⚡ The blunt one
🍀
This year you are presence itself. Whatever you take the lead on becomes your name. Good colleagues come to you like iron filings.
⚡
Your greatest rival this year isn’t another person — it’s your own stubbornness. Repeat “I’m right” often enough and both people and money leave. Spending grows in proportion to your social calendar, so cut the face-saving costs first.
🗓 Month by month
January — A month for measuring yourself against last year, not against other people
January, when Soju-han and Daehan pass, is the quietest time above ground. Nothing appears to be happening on the surface, while under the frozen earth the seed is quietly swelling. A Friend month layered onto that raises the wish to set your own standard from within rather than looking outside for the answer. Start glancing sideways at other people’s New Year plans here and only your impatience grows — and impatience makes you mistake someone else’s pace for your own. So move the object of comparison to last year’s self. One evening early in the year, open a notebook and write just three things you did well last year and three you regret, and what to hold on to this year reveals itself. Only a standard you set yourself still stands three months later — and when spring comes, people gather around whoever isn’t wobbling.
February — A month where your presence comes alive on new ground
With Ipchun, the grain of winter changes. The wind is still cold but the angle of the light is different, and something like the first day of term mixes into how people walk. Friend is energy of the same grain as you, so it shows up especially clearly in a place of beginnings. In a new organisation, a new group, a new project, the moment you first introduce yourself, people’s eyes settle naturally on you. But as your presence grows, so does the checking of it. Unfold all your ability from the start and the other person looks for what to compete with before what to learn from, so it is better to hold a move back in the first room. Rather than explaining what you are good at, finish one small job without complaint — that scene becomes your introduction for a long time afterwards.
March — A month for building something with people who share your grain
As Gyeongchip thaws the frozen ground and Chunbun makes day and night the same length, March is when inside and outside come into balance. Friend energy is the strength to stand alone and, at the same time, the eye that recognises an equal — so this month, people whose grain matches yours stand out unusually clearly. Put out the thought you have been turning over alone and, remarkably often, someone who has been chewing on the same problem raises a hand. A study group, a side project — a small partnership begun by two people easily becomes this year’s root. But settle the roles and the shares out loud at the start. Rules made while things are good are what protect two people when things wobble. Promises waved through on affection tend to get dragged out again around summer.
April — A month for beating the pull of comparison
April, between Cheongmyeong and Gogu, is when everything flowers at once. With brilliance on every side, an illusion sets in that your own pot alone is slow. In a Friend month, people at a similar position to yours come into view easily — and it happens to be the season when only their good news arrives. Hear about a peer’s new job and then a contemporary’s results, back to back, and even someone travelling well suddenly doubts their own road. But trees flower at different times, and the one that flowers late is usually spending that time on roots. Here, make your own process visible instead of watching other people’s results. A weekly record, photographs — anything where the accumulation shows — and the impatience settles noticeably.
May — A month where the socialising costs you both effort and money
When Ipha opens the door to summer, outside business increases sharply. May is already crowded with events and anniversaries, and with Friend energy layered on, you find yourself taking the central seat among people. The role somebody has to fill — the treasurer of the group, the one who makes the calls for weddings and funerals, the one who books the dinner — comes to you naturally. That in itself is good fortune with people; the problem is that time and money go out with it. The first once or twice you are glad to, and around the third the resentment quietly lifts its head. So state the rules from the start. Collect the contributions in advance, settle up on the spot, and say plainly that you can’t come to what you can’t come to without apologising for it — those three protect May.
June — A month for making your own share visible
After Haji the days, at their longest, begin to shorten again. It is where the year folds in half, so June naturally takes on the character of a reckoning. When this arrives in a Friend month, the question of who did what in the work you’ve been running together gradually becomes a topic. Conflict generally comes not from bad intentions but from differences in memory — each person remembers only the scenes where they worked hardest. So build the record before the argument. Put what you took on and what came of it in the first half onto one page and share it, and that single document stops the injustice and secures the appraisal at the same time. Claiming your share isn’t greed; it is closer to the courtesy that makes working together again possible.
July — A month for dividing the roles in the summer heat
July, with Soseo and Daeseo one after another and the monsoon on top, is when people’s patience is thinnest. Heat clouds judgement and damp air sharpens the ends of sentences. Friend energy calls in people who are your equals, so in this period it is easy for similar people to collide over the same seat. Start contesting who is right and you both tire out and the work simply stops. The way to change the board here is surprisingly simple: don’t try to win, divide. Draw the line for where your share starts and stops and take responsibility only within it, and the friction drops noticeably. Only once the roles are clear do two people’s strengths run side by side instead of overlapping.
August — A month for refuelling on time alone
After Ipchu the middle of the day is still hot while the grain of the dawn air changes first. The season always turns direction somewhere you can’t see. A Friend August is the period for briefly drawing back in the force you had been extending outward. If you have held the centre among people all through the first half, your energy will be starting to show its floor around now. But Friend is by nature the star that stands alone, so time by yourself, which reads as loneliness to others, is charging for you. Cut the contact for even a few days and live on your own rhythm. Walking, tidying, one long-deferred book is enough. What you fill this month becomes force in the autumn contest — so postponing the rest is, in fact, the loss.
September — A month for making your stake in the harvest explicit
When the dew settles at Baengno and Chubun makes day and night equal again, the things in the field get gathered one by one. September is when what you have been doing shows up as numbers and names. With Friend energy layered on, who the result is shared with and how becomes a topic all by itself. The person who loses most here is the one too good-natured to speak up. A share deferred with “let’s talk about it later” generally goes to whoever spoke first. Uncomfortable as it is, say the numbers before the result lands. Deciding before the split is far easier than re-splitting what is already divided. Someone who asks fairly is remembered not as greedy but as somebody you can work with again.
October — A month for stepping out under your own name
Between Hallo and Sanggang, frost falls, the summer’s overgrowth gets cleared and only what will remain remains. October’s Friend is the energy where, with the side branches stripped away, the outline of the person you are grows distinct. A good month for putting out what you have long prepared under your own name. A presentation, personal work, a small independence — bring forward what has stood behind somebody else’s name. What matters about this stage isn’t size but authorship. Even in front of ten people, a room you planned and took responsibility for becomes next year’s footing. Just drop the idea of doing it all alone. Put your name to it and borrow the hands — that is how Friend grows largest.
November — A month when the requests pile up — time to build a boundary
Once Ipdong passes and preparations for winter begin, everyone hurries to clear what is left. That is why requests crowd in so noticeably in November. Someone using Friend energy generally looks dependable from the outside and finishes what they take on, so people with tight deadlines come naturally to you. The first few times feel good, and at some point you find your own work pushed back and other people’s standing in the front row. Helping is a good thing in itself, so change only the method. When asked, check your own calendar first, and state up front the scope and the deadline you can manage. Someone clear about how far they can go is trusted longer than someone who does it all.
December — A month for closing the year from the centre of the gathering
After Dongji makes the night longest, the days start lengthening again. It is a month where the ending and the beginning sit in one place, so December’s finishing is next year’s seed. In a Friend December you often end up at the centre of every year-end gathering. Making the occasion, calling the people, reconnecting scattered ties — the role gets handed to you naturally. What differs is *what* you stand at the centre with. Stand there with your wallet and the year is remembered as an invoice; stand there with your heart and it is remembered as connection. Don’t get pulled into a competition over who pays — instead, leave a short greeting for the people you were grateful to this year. That one line in December often comes back in spring with an unexpected opportunity.
