① Get this year’s pairing — with lesson one’s formula. For 2026, Byeong-o. ② Get the Ten God of the year’s Stem — what is Byeong (Fire) to my Day Master? For a Gap Wood, Wood generates Fire and the polarity matches → Eating God. Headline: “2026 is an Eating God year for me.” An Eating God year means the theme of expression, creation and good fortune with food. ③ Look at the combinations and clashes of the year’s Branch — what is O to my Branches? If my day Branch is Sul, In-O-Sul half combination (a fair wind); if Ja, a Ja-O clash (change). The headline gains a subtitle: “an Eating God year, with a change of place in it.” Those three lines are the skeleton of a professional new year reading.

Practise annual reading as a consultation scenario. A job-seeker — a Direct Officer year gives the strategy “the door of formal recruitment opens; focus on paperwork and reputation,” while an Eating God year becomes “a year to compete on portfolio and practical work.” A self-employed person — an Indirect Wealth year advises “expansion and new customers, with cash-flow management essential,” while a Resource year advises “consolidating qualifications and systems rather than expanding.” The same year becoming a different year for each person is the essence of annual reading, and the “why is it this kind of year?” card on this site’s annual tab is exactly that logic automated. Q. Is the Korean superstition about ages ending in nine real? It is folklore advising caution at 9, 19, 29. Not mainstream theory — though there is a reading that those ages coincidentally overlap the Luck Pillar changeover for many people, producing the felt sense of an unsettled period. More accurate to look at when <i>your</i> Luck Pillar changes (advanced lesson 9). Q. Does the new year’s fortune apply from 1 January? No, from Ipchun. That is why this site’s annual reading switches automatically at Ipchun. January is the closing stretch of the previous year’s luck. Q. What if the annual and the Luck Pillar say different things? The Luck Pillar is the background, the annual is the event.
