Strong or weak — measuring your chart’s weight class

Strong isn’t good; knowing is good

🌿 IntermediateLesson 18

A story to start

As boxing has weight classes, so do charts. How much support the Day Master receives from around it — thick support is a strong Day Master, thin is weak. Beginners always misread this: “strong is good, right?” No. A heavyweight isn’t superior to a lightweight, they simply fight differently. Strong and weak aren’t a ranking but a difference in how you operate.

📖 The main point — allies and drains

The principle of judging is to split the five Ten God groups into two sides. Allies who strengthen me — Friends (versions of me) and Resource (support). The team that drains me — Output (I spend expressing), Wealth (I spend governing), Officers (they press on me). More allies leans strong; more drains leans weak. The month Branch from the last lesson scores especially heavily if it is an ally — being born in your own season lifts the weight class considerably. A strong chart has force to spare and needs somewhere to spend it (Output, Wealth, Officers); a weak chart is short of force and needs a charging station (Resource, Friends). This is the root reason a fortune reading differs person to person.

🔍 In practice — the quick scorecard

Precise judgement belongs to the advanced course; today, a quick scorecard. ① Is the month Branch an ally (Friend or Resource)? If yes, +3. ② Is the day Branch an ally? +2. ③ +1 for each ally among the remaining five characters. Five or more leans strong, three or fewer leans weak, around four is near the balanced middle. It is a practice scale only, and running it ten times changes how you look at a chart.

🧭 Working through the situations

See how strong and weak show up in the shape of a life. The type of a strong chart — high self-certainty, pushing on without anyone’s help, and if there is nowhere to spend the force (work, a goal) that energy pools inward and turns to frustration. The worst environment for a strong chart is comfortable idleness. The type of a weak chart — sensitively affected by environment and people, and growing explosively on meeting a good team or a good mentor. The worst environment for a weak chart is isolation where you have to do everything alone. So even the same job-change consultation splits: for the strong, somewhere you can open a board; for the weak, somewhere with a system behind you.

❓ Frequently asked

Q. Does weak mean physically frail? No. Strong and weak describe the Day Master’s force in the chart’s structure, not stamina. There are weak-chart athletes and strong-chart invalids. Health readings are taken separately, from elemental balance and whether particular characters are damaged. Q. I’ve heard “a strong woman has a hard fate” too. The same outdated reading as in the Friend lesson — the language of an era that read autonomous energy as a flaw only in women. Modern consultation reads it neutrally, regardless of gender, as a structure with strong self-direction. Q. Isn’t a balanced chart the best? A balanced chart is stable and its waves of luck are gentle. Closer to “the easiest” than “the best,” though — the drama of large achievement often comes from charts where strength or weakness is pronounced. There is no right answer in a chart; each structure simply has its own way of living.

✏️ Today’s one step

Weigh your own chart on the quick scorecard. Then one sentence: “I lean strong / weak, so the energy I need is __” (for strong, one of Output, Wealth or Officers; for weak, one of Resource or Friends). That sentence is the trailer for the Useful God you’ll learn in the advanced course.
